Two Peas in a Pod

Today we had a shower at school for my friend, Lauren Woodward. It was appropriately titled, "Two Peas in a Pod." Twice the babies, twice the fun, twice the love! Some photos from today:

Two Peas in a Pod

Sweet co-workers. It's nice to work with such wonderful people!!

The two pods on the cake were actually rice krispy treats!

How adorable is the cake? It was delicious too. If you're in the jackson area- go like purpose filled cakes on facebook! Not only does she do great cakes, but all the money goes to missions! How awesome is that ?! She also made my mother's 50th birthday cake.

Bumbo #1!

Bumbo #2!

What a fun shower it was!

Long Weekend

We enjoyed our long vacation weekend (well I really did, poor Jim had to work on Monday!) My parents had gotten us basketball tickets to the ole miss game on Saturday so it was the perfect occasion to head home (Denise is always looking for ways to get us to North Mississippi, but I'm not complaining!)...And the weekend was full of my favorite things:

Family dinner at Como Steakhouse. There is no better steak in the world-Of course I'm partial.

An Ole Miss Basketball Win!!

The Beale Street Flippers!

And having a visit with these two little stinkers-My favorite girls in the world! Sad this picture is blurry. I don't know why I can't remember to bring my nice camera home with me! Maybe next time:-)
We also celebrated my Meme's birthday with lunch on Sunday after church. It was a great weekend with family!

I'm hoping for a little warmer weather this week! Until next time..

Winter Snow

When I took Annie outside about 5:10 this morning- I walked out to a great surpise! I knew that they had predicted we may get snow, but it was above freezing when I went to asleep last night! From about 5:30-7:30- it snowed pretty continuous. It was much prettier from inside my window that outside in the midst of it, warmer too! However Jim and I  did get some great pictures:

Jim took this on his way to work.

Pretty, Pretty!

I took these around 7:45. It was still coming down pretty hard!

All Annie wanted to do was eat the snow- go figure:)

Our deck and backyard! Covered with white

And wouldn't you know that Direct TV would go out on the day I'm home. I was so looking forward to watching TODAY! So now I'm watching Beaches. And The Woods are coming to stay with us tonight, So exciting!!
Happy Snow Day!

Miss America 2013!

This past weekend we celebrated the Miss America pageant! My friend Kelli and I cooked white chicken chili along with lots of other goodies! We ate, laughed, and watched a extremely frustrating Miss America pageant (the past two years have been so off-just in my opinion.) I'm an avid Miss America fan and was so sad to be disappointed :( Maybe next year!! Neverthless, it was a fun night!

My menu from the night mostly came from my favorite chef-The Miss Hudson cookbook!

The dining room-All set for a fun dinner!

One of my favorite Christmas presents-Burlap table runner from my favorite store,Olive Juice in Oxford!

Desserts and finger foods

Kelli brought a crown cookie cake!

Some of my "hall" teacher friends and their daughters came by plus ginny and sara! :) Poor Ginny-I've been making her watch pageants for years and years now! haha. We didn't pick the winner, but we should have. Cheers to Miss America 2013!

Annie Simpson is 1

Since Annie was a rescue dog, no one really knows what day she was actually born on, but her original papers from the pound approximated her birthday to be January 11th-Sounds good to me! Annie has been a great addition to our little family. Jim and I are both obsessed with her-even if she has super crazy moments sometimes! Everyone needs a good family pet-preferably from the shelter! Don't even get me started :-)

The first day I brought her home. Sweet little face!

Happy First Birthday Annie!

Compass Bowl Fun and End of Winter Break

Well, Winter Break is officially over! I am always ready to get back in the routine of things, but I will miss my lazy days..haha. I did accomplish some things around the house. I think I painted 6 pieces of furniture with Annie Sloan paint-I also saw Les Miserables. Twice. Fantastic movie with such a beautiful message-that actually has so many biblical principles throughout the entire story. And, the music..oh the music! What I would give to see this on Broadway!!

To top off the break, we headed to Birmingham to cheer on the rebels. I was excited to see the game and also spend time with family and friends. We drove up Saturday morning just in time for the game.

The game was very cold! But I enjoyed seeing this team play one more time. An exciting end to an unexpected season. This has been a fun year for football!

After the game, we checked into our hotel to get ready for dinner. We went to a restaurant called, Do Di Yo's. It was wonderful!

Jim and I before dinner

My sweet sister in law!

I wish I would have taken pictures at dinner, but I was too busy eating. Go figure!

Aunt Becca was so kind to stay with Annie while we were playing

We could sure get used to her being in Jackson..hint hint!

Back to school. Back to school...but good news-Miss America Saturday!!!
