Boston Trip!

We celebrated our birthdays and anniversary by taking a trip to Boston a couple of weeks ago! Even though we did plan our trip around the yankees/red sox game, we had lots of fun sightseeing and exploring! Naturally, my personal travel agent Margaret helped us organize everything! My other buddy, Jordan Thomas, helped plan activities! I  consider these two my well-traveled and cultured friends. I am so thankful for their expertise:-) Beware..lots of pictures coming ahead...

DAY 1:

We landed in Boston that afternoon! We took a duck tour around the city that went on land and in water. This was the perfect first activity because it gave us a real sense of the city! After our tour, I headed to Newbury street for h&m stop 1. (you have to go more than once-duh!)

I believe this was the sherriff's department-had to get a pic for dad!

Day 2:
We started the day early at FENWAY PARK! Jim was so excited. Even though I'm not a HUGE baseball fan, I still really enjoyed it. It's such a classic sports venue. I love how old it is.

Beautiful

Hanging out in the big green monster!

After our Fenway Tour, we went to the famous cheer's for lunch. After that, we began the LONG afternoon of the freedom trail. Let me just say it was HOT. Like ten times worse than the Mississippi heat, record breaking temperatures for Boston. Despite the weather being almost unbearable, I REALLY enjoyed the freedom trail. It's awesome to see history come to life!

Boston Massacre

Where the Declaration of Independence was read.

My personal favorite-Paul Revere's House

So neat inside!

The midnight ride of Paul Revere-I loved seeing this since I touch on this in my classroom. Can't wait to share pictures.

One if by land, two if by sea!

We ended the night with a wonderful dinner at Atlantic Fish Company-thanks marg for the suggestion. So yummy.

Also the sight of one of the boston marathon bombings, very surreal to see in real life!

Day 3:

We headed on the "T" to Harvard! Once again, it was blistering hot!!! But we enjoyed it. I really was surprised how big Cambridge was- I could have spent a lot more time there.

That evening, we enjoyed dinner at Sweet Caroline's near Fenway and went to the game! It was so much fun.

On our last day in Boston, we took a boston harbor cruise! Made for some great photo-opps!

We also made another trip to Newbury Street-so much fun! We ended with dinner at Ye Olde Union Oyster House-the oldest restaurant in America. They even have a booth where JFK liked to dine! Very neat (thanks marg!)

Sorry for all the pictures, but it truly was a great trip! I really love this part of the country and hope to take another trip there soon:-)

The BIG 2-6

I celebrated my 26th birthday a couple of weeks ago! I can't believe I'm on the downward slope to 30-I know I'm still young though!:)  I always hated being the youngest growing up-now I love it! My birthday celebration started a day early with lunch with my best buddy Kelli and her daughter. Then, we spent the afternoon at the Woodward home catching up and loving on our favorite twin boys.

They are both so sweet-We loved getting to spend the afternoon with them (and their momma of course!) I love my teacher buddies:-) Summer catch-up sessions are the best.

On my actual birthday, my parents came down and took me shopping- woohoo! My mom helped me decorate our bedroom with new pillows and curtains. My parents took us to dinner that night to celebrate not only my birthday-but Jim's as well. He turned 26 on July 14th!

Jim's parents also came down and took us to eat at Julep this past weekend. We were very spoiled!:) It was a great birthday for both of us and will be an even better year! We are off to Boston today to celebrate! So excited!!

Two very special people are welcoming sweet babies this coming September! My sister-in-law with a baby boy and my best friend Jordan with a baby girl! It was only fitting that they be showered with lots of goodies. I was in baby shower mode for a good week with back to back showers. I wouldn't have had it any other way. I was honored to help get these mommas ready!:) I can't wait for the babies to get here (hopefully on different days haha) so I can spoil them even more!

June Updates

I'm back from an unintentional break of keeping my blog updated! I am not very good when I'm out of a routine, and as hard as I try-summer is just NEVER a routine:)! June was a pretty fun and eventful month! We found out Jim was going to have surgery about mid-way through the month so that took up most of the last 2 weeks of June! Thankfully, everything went great and he is getting back to normal every day.

While I was taking care of him, I became very sick! YUCK. Jim is a much better patient than me. I cannot sit still, it drives me crazy to be ill. Baby Becca had to come to the rescue a few times with dinner! ha. Some updates from the month:

Ginny and I finished our sewing class. This is fabric from a tote bag that we did. Let me just say this-SEWING IS HARD. I'm super glad that I learned the basics, especially about how to work a sewing machine. But I did not enjoy the patterns-not patient enough! It's kinda like math-(and we know I'm terrible at math) Ginny was a much better student than me, and I may have cheated of her a time or two.

We have enjoyed our summer nights and Annie loves having her friends over to play.DOGS EVERYWHERE! They are trying to help Ginny cook;)

Our friend, Frannie, got married in Oxford! This is Lelia and I at the rehearsal dinner.

While in Oxford, I was able to catch up with some of my favorite chi-o girls! Emily and I out in Ox!

And look who came in from Cali!! Loved seeing my best friend Hannah!

Yes I went out. and even made it to square pizza with Margaret and Jordan!

Julie and I on Fran's wedding day! Oh I miss my partner in crime living close to me.

Pretty Bride!

..and since we were on house arrest for our second anniversary. Jim ordered chocolate covered strawberries for us to enjoy at home. We were pitiful-ha. But we made up for it with a nice dinner at Shapley's a few weeks later.

Vacation 2013

We recently took our vacation to Seacrest/Rosemary Beach! To me, true vacation only happens at the beach. I could stay there for several weeks each summer, but we know that's not too realistic:) We had the most perfect weather the entire week-not too hot thank goodnesss! We really enjoyed staying off 30a this year. We ate at Bud and Alleys, Red Bar, Bentleys, La Crema, and Louisiana Lagniappe. My favorite was playing in Seaside every night after dinner, getting dessert, and enjoying all the fun stores. We had the most perfect little condo (thanks to Gin's recommendation) that was just right for the two of us. I hope we can return next summer (maybe sooner!!!)
I know there are some beautiful beaches out there, but I will take the Florida coast any day! My favorite place to be.

Trying to catch some rays!

Even though it's hard to leave, I was very grateful for our week at the beach!
