Checking Out for the Summer!

Well this school year has come and gone! And what a fun one it has been. Since it was my first school year without a graduate school class hanging over my head, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. Not to mention, I had a totally awesome class of students and parents! Some of my favorite moments throughout the year:

Receiving sweet gifts from parents all year long!
A fellow teacher singing "School's Out for the Summer" during dismissal today. So much fun.
Ole Miss Teachers! Hannah, Anna Katherine and
I celebrating a great school year!

Getting nailed in the face with a pie by this sweet boy! A reward for good behavior.

Field Day 2013

Being scary creatures on Halloween

A great game of ships and sailors at recess. Jack I'm Flying!!

Visiting with some of the BHS football players and cheerleaders.

As the year wraps up, I am reminded of how blessed I am to work at BES with such wonderful people.  It is really a special place to me! All the administation, faculty, and students are the best in the world! I can't wait for another year to begin! :)

Until then...HAPPY SUMMER!

MAY Updates!

Whew...May is a whirlwind. That's all I've got to say.  Although the ending of the school year is bittersweet, I will be happy for things to calm down just a bit. There is nothing crazier than the beginning and end of school-always something to do:)

Here's what we've been up to:

Jim's company, Tyson, is a contributor to the Make-a-Wish foundation so we were able to attend the Wishmaker's ball in Jackson. It was a great event for a sweet cause. Once again, I lost all the items I bid on in the silent auction. I'm not aggressive enough-haha go figure!

We also attended another benefit for The Mind Center. This was The Band Perry concert at Thalia Maria Hall in Jackson. The concert was FANTASTIC! They put on such a great performance.

For mother's day weekend, we packed up and headed north to Tobie town. It was a fun, relaxing weekend. We are looking forward to another weekend at home with our family soon.

This past week, my students took the MCT2. If you are in education-you know this is a big deal. Above is a picture of one of my students making an MCT pledge to do his best. It was a LONG week, but I was very pleased with our students' work. I hope we will see good results!:)
My class and I posing in our Praying for Carter Cline tshirts! I am so proud of them.

This will be our last week of school! I am excited and sad at the same time. What a fun year we have had!!:)

Week Day Fun!

April has been SUPER busy-seriously the busiest time in our lives so far in 2013! This past week, we had lots of fun activities that happened. Typically, I don't go out and do anything fun on a school night-if you are a teacher then you understand. I'm exhausted by the end of the day. However, we had some super fun activities this week.

Tuesday night we went to the rebel road trip! We chatted with our fellow senatobian/favorite football coach and gave him our well wishes for the upcoming season! Already excited about this fall!

If you know anything about the Brandon schools here- you will know that it is bulldog/maroon everywhere!! Seriously. I had to add some blue and red to our hallway by displaying this lovely schedule for all to see. I'm trying to teach my students some valuable life lessons.

Speaking of school..here are my students participating in the Brandon Pay it Forward Day! Each student had a task card to do at least 3 kind things for another student, teacher, or staff member in our building. We all had a great time-I'm sure getting a little bit sad about letting them move on. This time of year is very bittersweet. I always hate saying goodbye to a sweet group of kiddos.

We had a mid-week dinner date! Ginny (aka my twin!) and I showed up color coordinating.

..and if you know Julie, you will know she wasn't happy about being left out of the picture. So here's for you Jules!! Paparazzi.

Have a great week!! I can't believe MAY is almost here!!!

Beach Bachelorette!

Last Friday, I took a personal day to head south for a little fun in the sun! We were thrilled to be celebrating our best friend's upcoming wedding! Fran and I have been best buds since freshman year of college-almost 8 years ago. CRAZY! I love this group of friends so much and I am so grateful for all the fun times we have together. This weekend was no exception :)

A little flashback just for giggles....

This is Fran and I at a rush party way back in the day! We were great friends from the start! We have many things in common including sharing the same love for cheerleading, pageants, weddings, and all things fancy and proper.

And flash forward to today!

Passing the crown to the next June bride.

Here are some pictures from the weekend, Betsy Carol and Emily did such a great job planning everything. Our friend, Allie, was so gracious to let us stay in her gorgeous beach house! Everything was perfect.

Look at that view! heavenly!

My best bud and I enjoying the perfect weather!

Mimosas to start the morning!

Getting ready for a night out

Best friends!

I love these girls!!

Pretty girls!

We hope you had a wondeful bachelorette Fran! We can't wait for June 22nd!!! Love you!

Becca's Derby Day!

Two things I thought I would never do-Cheer for KD on derby day and have it be in Starkville! Oh, does God have a sense of humor?! haha. But I happily did both today to support baby becca in her last derby day! I had to make sure I documented the occasion:

Becca is on the far right. They did such a great job!

I was so excited my sweet Taylor got to come with me and experience her first derby day! I tried to convince her all day that Ole Miss XO was better, not sure I was successful though:)

..And KD wins!

Congrats Bec! All the hard work paid off!

Being at derby day made me very nostalgic of my derby days! This and charity bowl were always the highlight of spring events for me (always the cheerleader inside me!)

Dukes of Derby Day-My first derby day back in 2006! Seems like forever ago, back when Julie and I were blonde (haha!!)
Oh, to be in college again...

Easter 2013

I know I have said it many many time but Easter is my favorite holiday! Without this holiday, we would be nothing. We had the most wonderful worship service this morning at our church filled with beautiful music and a meaningful message! It was definitely the highlight of our holiday.

I have to admit I was nervous this would be a difficult holiday for us. This is the first time we haven't been able to be at home with all our family for a holiday. Being married to an accountant means you can't go anywhere the last weekend of a quarter! However thanks to some great visitors, we had a wonderful weekend! When you can't go home to your family, just have your family come to you:-)

On Thursday, my mom, sister, and grandmother came to stay. We did lots of shopping and apartment hunting for my sister who will be moving here in May.

Everyone was excited to see Aunt Becca! I was sad to see them leave Saturday morning, but it gave me time to get things ready for Easter lunch. Even though it would just be Jim and me, I wanted to do a special lunch. I decided to cook a turkey, hashbrown casserole, carrots, rolls, and a strawberry dessert. I think all went well.

Early morning cooking. Complete with all the necessities-the Mrs. Hudson cookbook and my roasting pot. Two of my favorite items I received at my kitchen shower when I got married!

What's Easter without a set dining room table?! Easter was my nana Joy's favorite holiday. We LOVED to decorate her dining room for lunch, so I get it honestly. I love that I get to use a lot of her stuff in my own home now.

One of my precious students gave me this sweet McCarty bunny! It was perfect for my table.

Here's the china once again! I could use this everyday. Cups and saucers are one of my favorites-so dainty!

Is there anything more beautiful than gold rimmed china and flatware.

Easter has Peters and McCarty written all over it!

All ready for worship!

A little easter photo shoot with our Annie.

Jim's parents came into town this evening so we have had a fun filled day! It has been such a blessing to stop and remember the sacrifice that was made for us. I hope you and your family had a great holiday!

He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.
