The Simpson's First Holiday Season!

This holiday season will be our first as a married couple! How fun!! Today, I decorated our little apartment with some christmas cheer. However, our Christmas decor is very slim this year due to the fact that we are about to move!! More details to come later:)

Our sweet little Christmas Tree! Growing up, We always had a "fake" tree. It has always been a dream of mine to go pick out a real Christmas tree (silly, I know!) However, with the big move coming up we just decided to use a small tree I already had for right now! We are having a Charlie Brown Christmas!:)

My first christmas wreath of the year. I decided to join in on the mesh rage. It's not that great- but still not too bad for my first time. I decided to hang it up anyway. I wanted to do silver and gold because I love the colors together. The wreath doesn't show up that great on builder beige walls though! haha:)

My stocking!

Jim's stocking!

I bought our stockings at Mistletoe this year- I really need to get them monogrammed. In addition, a mantle to hang them on would be nice as well:)

Love Vietri St. Nick!! It really is the only Christmas Pottery that I truly love. I received some pieces as wedding gifts that I adore. We also started using our Vietri christmas dishes this week, how fun!

 Let the holidays begin!

Houston Nutt! Houston Nutt!

This weekend, we attended the last home football game of the 2011 season. so sad for many reasons. It was Houston's last home game. I know he needed to be fired- but I still like the guy!! The weather was great! not too hot, not too cold. My best friend, Jordan and her fiance Jim joined us for a day in the grove and the game.

Jordan and I at the game. We stayed until the very end, of course. We had to send Houston out in style. I really wish him the best (even though we are pretty terrible! haha)

Meeting Baby Jack!

Last week, we visited our friends the Milners who just welcomed a sweet new baby boy to their family. Baby Jack was born on November 7th and is absolutely precious! He is such a good baby and never cried once while we visited. We also got to see big brother Sam, whom we adore and Rusty, the dog. I tell Carlin I get my baby and pet fix while visiting her haha!!

60B!

Yes, we went to Kentucky to watch our sad rebels play! Atleast our expectations weren't too high for the game. Despite our loss, we had a great time!! Kentucky is really beautiful. I loved loved the campus and the town of Lexington. We took the roadtrip with Lauren and Josh which made the trip so fun! I know Josh is excited to finally be apart of my blog- since he stalks it all the time. This. Is. For. You. Josh.

We started the weekend off at- you guessed it, Rupp Arena. Apparently, Kentucky has a good basketball team. However, everyone knows what Kentucky is most famous for- CHEERLEADING! There happened to be a competition at the Rupp Arena, however I did not get to attend, maybe next time! There was an awesome exhibit at the Lexington Convention Bureau that Lauren and I talked the boys into going to- The Body Exhibit:

This exhibit was seriously one of the neatest things I've ever seen. I so wish I could bring my class to see it. The exhibit showcases real preserved human bodies. The bodies are dissected to show all the bodily systems. AWESEOME.
We weren't allowed to take pictures throughout the exhibit, unfortunately. However, my favorite part were the embyros. They showcased embryos beginning at 4 weeks and up. It is amazing how real a baby looks in the womb even at four weeks, truly a miracle.

I copied this from a website- the picture does not do it justice. It was unreal.

Next, we toured some of the campus which was lovely! especially with all the Fall foliage.

Then off to Houston's last game before being fired. (I will always love Houston!)

After the game, we went to a resturant called "Hugh Jass Burgers." Pretty interesting! Great burgers though:)

Brothers!

Most all of my closest friends know my obsession with the movie, "Elizabethtown." It came out when I was a freshman in college and was instantly added to the list of movies that I watch over and over again. Naturally when we decided to go to Kentucky, I hoped we would pass Elizabethtown, KY. And we did!! I was more than excited. Lauren and I watched the movie on the way to and from Kentucky. While most of the movie was filmed in another location, the sign is shown in the movie. Of course, I had to get a picture.

Cross it off the bucket list!!

Trick or Treat!

Jim and I had our first halloween as a married couple, how fun! Naturally, I was overly excited to pass out candy. We decided we needed to halloween decor to welcome trick or treaters- so we decided to carve pumpkins! Well, neither one of us were blessed with creativity (our poor children!). Needless to say, I will not be posting any pictures of the finished product. However carving a pumpkin together was sure fun!:)

On Halloween I patiently waiting for our very own trick-or-treaters:) It was a late start, but they finally came, including some of my students. However, this little man was by far the cutest:

Officer Sam Milner, watch out!
